Veneers

FB Tranciati has been working with the best designers and architects since its establishment in 1936. Final products range from furniture to interiors, from yachts to luxury cars, from common wood species to rare and exotic ones. In wood production thin wood sheets from 0,5 to 3 mm are defined veneers.

Veneer is an art born in the Renaissance period with the great Italian master craftsmen. Thanks to the advent of slicing machines at the beginning of the 20th century, the thickness of the sheet is drastically reduced to now reaching a few tenths of a millimeter. In this way the veneer acquires mechanical qualities to allow its use on curved surfaces.

From the beginning, the use of veneers allows to obtain a decorative layer of fine wood with considerable material savings, while back supports were made of low quality solid wood. Today, with the evolution of wood technology, veneers are applied to MDF, chipboard, blockboard, honeycomb and plywood supports to reduce costs, and improve resistance to woodworms, lightness and stability.
